FUNDED: Apply for the IOM Youth Capacity Enhancement Programme on Climate Mobility 2025 for Young Africans
Applications are now being accepted for the 2025–2026 edition of the Youth Capacity Enhancement Programme focused on Climate Mobility. This initiative seeks youth-led organizations actively engaged in developing solutions at the intersection of climate change, migration, disaster risk reduction, and environmental sustainability. If your organization is working to create or scale up efforts in these areas and is eager to build its expertise, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) encourages you to apply.
To be eligible, applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age and hold citizenship from an African country. They must represent a youth-driven civil society organization—meaning that most of its leadership or membership is under the age of 35—and the organization must be legally registered within Africa. Only groups with a track record of two to five years in implementing environmental or social initiatives in partnership with local communities will be considered. Moreover, your organization must have successfully executed at least two such projects recently.
Candidates should submit a detailed concept for a project—either in progress or in the planning stages—that offers an innovative approach to climate mobility. This initiative should benefit local youth and communities directly. Additionally, applicants must possess a valid passport, with an expiration date no earlier than May 2026, and be able to acquire the necessary travel documents and health insurance for participation in the program.
Fluency in one of the following languages is required: English, French, Arabic, or Portuguese. Proficiency in local languages will be viewed as an asset. Those selected must be fully committed to all aspects of the programme, including virtual learning sessions, in-person workshops, one-on-one mentorship opportunities, and upholding the core ethical values of the programme.
Participants will gain extensive knowledge in areas such as climate mobility, project design, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising, communication strategies, and policy advocacy. The programme also offers a chance to build strong connections with peers, experts, and other stakeholders, as well as opportunities to highlight your organization’s work on influential regional and international platforms.
