Grant of US$10,000 : Apply for the ITTO Freezailah Fellowship Programme 2025

The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) invites applications for its prestigious Freezailah Fellowship Programme, aimed at enhancing professional capabilities in sustainable tropical forest management, timber industry practices, and related fields. This initiative supports the development of skilled individuals contributing to environmental sustainability and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

What You Can Do with the Fellowship

Eligible activities include:

  • Participation in international and regional short-term trainings, workshops, study tours, and conferences
  • Technical content creation (manuals, publications, short documentaries)
  • Partial support for postgraduate research and studies
    Note: Priority is given to short-term capacity-building activities.

Selection Criteria

Applications are assessed based on:

  • Relevance of the proposed activity to the programme’s core goals
  • Applicant’s qualifications and experience
  • Broader applicability and impact of the acquired knowledge
  • Cost-effectiveness of the proposed budget

The panel also ensures gender and geographic balance, and prioritizes projects that promote sustainable development in tropical producer countries.

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: 28 July 2025 (by 17:00 JST)
  • Start Date for Funded Activities: No earlier than 1 January 2026
  • Results Announced: Around 20 November 2025.

The International Tropical Timber Organization promotes the conservation and sustainable use of tropical forest resources through action-oriented policies and capacity building. Through this fellowship, ITTO continues its mission to advance innovation and knowledge-sharing for resilient, biodiverse, and economically viable forests.
