CASH PRIZE: Apply for the UNESCO Prize for global citizenship education for young changemakers
The Global Citizenship Education Award by UNESCO serves as a unique and influential international stage to elevate and honor impactful projects that foster global citizenship values. Launched in 2024 through the backing of the Republic of Korea, this pioneering recognition is the first award of its nature. It is presented biennially and highlights exemplary contributions that significantly advance education centered around global citizenship. The award is divided into two distinct classifications: one aimed at youth-driven groups and another inclusive of individuals, organizations, and other entities not led by young people.
Applicants interested in the youth-focused category must represent a group primarily directed by persons aged between 18 and 30. For those applying under the general category, candidates can include independent individuals, formal institutions, civil society groups, or various other bodies operating outside of youth leadership.
To be considered for this recognition, initiatives must align with the ideals of global citizenship education. Only those efforts that have been actively carried out for a minimum of one year and can demonstrate real-world outcomes and actions will be eligible. It is also a strict requirement that neither the initiative nor the implementing body be connected to UNESCO financially or structurally. Furthermore, applications must come with a formal endorsement from a UNESCO National Commission or a non-governmental organization officially associated with UNESCO.
