Applications are open for the 8th edition of the National Youth Parliament (NYP), a dynamic platform that empowers young people to engage in meaningful dialogue on regional and national issues. This initiative offers youth the chance to propose policy changes, advocate for their interests, and influence decision-making processes that directly impact their communities. By combining innovative digital tools with traditional platforms, the program promotes inclusive participation in national budgeting and policy reform—especially in areas such as education, health, climate action, and economic empowerment.

The National Youth Parliament, spearheaded by Faraja Africa Foundation, supports Uganda’s broader development agenda as outlined in the National Development Plan III. The initiative is designed to strengthen youth involvement in civic processes, ensuring their voices are heard in spaces that shape governance and public resource allocation. The national plenary is informed by a series of regional youth sessions held across the Central, Western, Northern, and Eastern parts of the country, where emerging policy issues relevant to each region are discussed and documented.

This year’s session, now in its eighth cycle, will take place under the theme “Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation Through Technology and Partnerships.” It will serve as a critical platform for the next generation of leaders to discuss innovative approaches to collaboration, policymaking, and global engagement. Youth from across the East African Community are encouraged to apply and take part in shaping Uganda’s and the region’s future through collective action and forward-thinking ideas.

To be eligible, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 by the time of application and should demonstrate active involvement in advocacy, human rights, environmental activism, community development, or other leadership areas. Candidates should reside in an East African Community member country and must be willing to fully engage in both virtual and in-person activities of the Parliament. Prior participation in the East African Youth Parliament disqualifies applicants to ensure the inclusion of fresh voices in the conversation.
