The call for applications is now open for the 2026–2027 edition of the WIPO Young Experts Program (YEP), a professional development initiative designed to nurture a new generation of leaders in the field of Intellectual Property (IP). This two-year opportunity is geared toward young professionals who have a strong interest in the role of IP in innovation, creativity, and sustainable global progress. The program provides a dynamic platform for emerging experts to work closely with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), gaining meaningful experience across a range of its projects and departments.
During the course of the program, selected participants will engage directly with WIPO’s diverse portfolio of work, learning not only about the technical elements of IP systems but also about its broader policy and strategic implications. The program is designed to provide participants with a holistic understanding of how IP can drive social and economic development across different contexts and regions. Those chosen will emerge with valuable insights and capabilities that can help strengthen innovation ecosystems in their home countries or regions.
To be eligible for this prestigious opportunity, candidates must be 35 years old or younger at the time of application and be willing to commit full-time to the two-year program. A completed university degree is required, along with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience. Applicants should bring a strong set of research, organizational, and analytical abilities, in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. A background in intellectual property, creativity, or innovation-related work will also be considered a strong asset.
Those who are accepted into the program will receive a monthly stipend of 5,000 Swiss Francs to support their stay in Geneva. In addition, the program covers 75% of medical insurance costs and provides accident insurance. Travel support may also be offered to assist with relocation, and visa facilitation for entry into Switzerland is available where needed. Participants may also receive assistance in securing housing during their time in the country.
