Applications are now open for the 2026 Africa’s Data Future Fellowship, a three-month virtual programme designed to support emerging African professionals working in data governance and digital policy. The fellowship is organized by the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) and aims to strengthen the skills and policy leadership capacity of professionals contributing to Africa’s digital future.

The programme is intended for emerging professionals across Africa who are interested in the intersection of data, technology and public policy. Through the fellowship, participants will engage with key issues shaping the continent’s digital transformation and gain opportunities to learn from experienced practitioners and connect with other professionals working in the field.

The fellowship will explore four major thematic areas: digital rights and data sharing, data value chains and sovereignty, digital public infrastructure, and regulatory interoperability. These areas are designed to help participants develop a deeper understanding of the policy challenges and opportunities surrounding Africa’s growing digital and data economy.

The three-month programme will be delivered virtually and will include bi-weekly masterclasses featuring industry leaders. Fellows will also have opportunities to be featured on CSEA’s platforms and gain access to a growing Pan-African professional network, providing opportunities for knowledge exchange, collaboration and professional development.

Successful fellows will receive a US$1,500 stipend upon successful completion of the programme. The fellowship therefore provides both financial support and an opportunity for participants to strengthen their professional networks and contribute to conversations around Africa’s data and digital policy landscape.
