GRANTS: Apply for the Commonwealth Foundation Grants Programme 2025/26 for changemakers and young founders
Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 Commonwealth Foundation Grants Programme. The Commonwealth Foundation provides funding of up to £60,000 to civil society organisations within the Commonwealth. These grants are designed to promote meaningful engagement between civil society and decision-makers, encouraging participation in policy development and implementation.
The Foundation’s funding priorities include health justice, freedom of expression, climate justice, and equity-free grants for startups. Eligible applicants must be not-for-profit civil society organisations registered in a member state of the Commonwealth Foundation. Organisations must have at least three years of demonstrable experience in participatory governance and advocacy related to the proposed project. Those that have been registered for less than three years are not eligible.
Organisations currently implementing, or recently completing, a Commonwealth Foundation Grant without receiving their final payment cannot apply. Projects should aim to create positive change through constructive interaction between civil society and decision-makers, and must align with one or more of the Foundation’s priority themes. All proposals should plan for project activities to begin after 1 August 2026 and before the end of September 2026.
The application window opens on 16 September 2025 and closes on 23 October 2025, after which the assessment process begins. Applicants who have not been contacted by the end of February 2026 should assume their submission was unsuccessful. Successful applicants will be notified by June 2026.
