Applications are open for the Youth Environment Assembly (YEA) 2025, organized by the Children and Youth Major Group (CYMG) to UNEP. The YEA is the world’s largest youth gathering for the environment, serving as the official platform for young people to engage in environmental governance processes linked to the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) and other multilateral environmental agreements.

The Assembly provides space for capacity building, policy dialogue, networking, and collective action. It allows young people to bring their voices, ideas, and solutions directly into international environmental decision-making.

Program Benefits

The YEA 2025 provides participants with the opportunity to engage in high-level environmental discussions connected to UNEA-7 and other global processes. Participants gain skills in advocacy, policy negotiation, and international cooperation. While the Assembly primarily serves as a participation and capacity-building platform, selected participants may also have the chance to contribute to official youth declarations that influence global environmental governance.

Eligibility Criteria

The YEA 2025 is open to youth and youth-led organizations from all over the world who are engaged or interested in environmental and climate issues. Applicants may include students, activists, young professionals, and members of civil society groups. There are no specific academic or professional requirements, but applicants must be committed to advancing youth engagement in environmental governance and willing to contribute actively in discussions, consultations, and working groups.
