The European Institute of Peace (EIP) is inviting applications for the position of Climate and Environmental Peacemaking Programme Officer, based in Brussels, Belgium. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Institute’s innovative approach to conflict resolution—integrating climate and environmental action into peacebuilding efforts.

EIP operates across more than a dozen countries, partnering with conflict-affected communities, policymakers, and international organizations to foster inclusive dialogue, mediation, and sustainable peace.

About the Programme

The Climate and Environmental Peacemaking (CEPM) Programme addresses the intersection of climate change, environmental degradation, and conflict. Its mission is to strengthen peace efforts by engaging communities and leaders in environmental cooperation and sustainable resource management.

Within this framework, the Environmental Pathways for Reconciliation (EPfR) project focuses on promoting peace in Yemen by identifying environmental risks that can serve as entry points for dialogue and reconciliation.

Role Summary

The Programme Officer will coordinate an international team implementing the CEPM’s Yemen-focused activities, ensuring effective planning, delivery, and reporting. The officer will play a central role in managing logistics, partnerships, and communication between Brussels and field teams, while contributing to analytical reports and policy materials on climate-security dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate an international project team and serve as the main liaison with internal and external partners.

  • Manage administrative and financial aspects, including contracts, logistics, and budget tracking.

  • Oversee the preparation of narrative and analytical reports aligned with donor and project requirements.

  • Lead the organization of international dialogues and workshops.

  • Develop communication materials such as policy briefs, blogs, and training resources.

  • Support contextual analysis and results-based project evaluation.

  • Location: Brussels, Belgium

  • Start Date: January 2026

  • Hybrid Work: Up to three days of remote work weekly.

Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in peacebuilding, stabilization, or climate-security programming in fragile contexts.

- Proven background in environmental and climate policy, conflict sensitivity, or related fields.

- Strong skills in project coordination, reporting, and results-based management.

- Master’s degree in political science, peace and conflict studies, climate/environmental sciences, or a related field.

- Experience in Yemen or similar contexts is an asset.

- Excellent communication and coordination skills with proficiency in English (Arabic highly desirable).

- Must be legally authorized to work in Belgium (EU citizenship or valid Belgian work permit).
