Hybrid Seminar:  Apply For the Youth-Led Seminar on Gender and Development in Contemporary Societies

The Michigan Fellows Africa Initiative (MFAI) Uganda Chapter, in collaboration with the University of Iceland–GRO Gender Equality Studies and Training Programme (GEST) and Makerere University Directorate of Gender Mainstreaming, is inviting applications for a Hybrid Seminar on Gender and Development in Contemporary Societies.

Taking place between December 2025 and February 2026, the program aims to strengthen the capacity of young advocates, activists, and scholars to apply GRO GEST resources, Ubuntu philosophy, and practical gender approaches in their ongoing work.

A total of 20 participants from across Uganda will be selected to engage in:

  • A three-week virtual practicum on edX and Zoom,

  • Followed by a five-day in-person workshop in Kampala.

Participants will also visit indigenous cultural sites, volunteer with local and international NGOs, and present capstone projects based on insights gained from the training.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be engaged in gender equality or development initiatives.

- Should be residing in Uganda at the time of training.

- Must have not participated in any previous MFAI projects.

- Aged between 18 and 40 years.

- Hold a degree, diploma, or equivalent professional experience in Gender and Development or related fields.

- Demonstrate proficiency with digital tools (Zoom, Padlet, edX).

- Show commitment to fully participate and complete the training.
