Selected fellows in the MENA Junior Fellowship 2026 will receive a one-year research affiliation with the Social Sciences Lab – MENA, along with access to a dynamic community of scholars and researchers working on topics related to the MENA region. The fellowship provides tailored training and structured mentorship, which includes academic supervision from experienced researchers to support research design and development. Fellows will gain access to research data, collaborative projects, thematic research groups, and opportunities to develop publishable research outputs. The programme also offers professional development workshops and guidance on academic publishing to help expand fellows’ academic networks and prepare them for future career opportunities within and beyond academia. 
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the MENA Junior Fellowship 2026, applicants should either be nationals from countries in the Middle East and North Africa or demonstrate a committed academic interest in MENA studies. Applicants are expected to have completed at least a bachelor’s degree (BA or equivalent) and be early-career scholars or recent graduates seeking to deepen their research experience and strengthen their academic trajectory. Proficiency in Arabic is required to actively engage in the programme, and while English proficiency is welcomed and may support participation in broader activities, strong commitment to engaging throughout the fellowship is essential. In addition, applicants must have access to reliable internet in order to participate fully in online meetings, workshops, and collaborative tasks planned throughout the fellowship year.

• Other commonly included MENA states: Israel, (Western) Sahara
