Selected participants will benefit from a comprehensive capacity-building experience that combines mentorship, technical training, and business development support. The programme equips women entrepreneurs with tools to enhance leadership, strategic planning, and operational management within their energy enterprises. Participants also gain access to a network of experts, investors, and fellow entrepreneurs, creating opportunities for collaboration, funding, and market expansion.

Through this programme, women-led enterprises will be empowered to scale their businesses, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen their contributions to the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors within the SADC region. Beyond professional growth, the programme fosters a supportive ecosystem where women entrepreneurs can share experiences, learn from peers, and receive guidance from established industry leaders, ultimately enhancing the sustainability and impact of their ventures.

The programme is open to women who are nationals of SADC Member States, ensuring that participants represent the diversity and entrepreneurial potential within the Southern African region. Applicants must be founders, co-founders, or key decision-makers of energy-related enterprises, demonstrating active involvement in the operations and strategic direction of their businesses. Eligible enterprises should operate in the renewable energy, energy efficiency, or clean energy sector, and applicants must show clear commitment to advancing the sustainability and growth of their businesses.

Candidates are expected to possess foundational business experience and a vision for scaling their enterprise within the energy sector. In addition, applicants should be prepared to engage actively in all programme activities, including workshops, mentorship sessions, and peer-to-peer learning, to maximize the capacity-building benefits offered. Proficiency in English is recommended as the programme’s activities and training materials are primarily delivered in English.

This Capacity-Building Programme for Women Energy Entrepreneurs – Second Cohort is open only to women who hold nationality from a Southern African Development Community (SADC) Member State. This means that applicants must be legal citizens of countries that belong to the SADC regional bloc in Southern Africa. The programme is specifically designed to support women-owned or women-led energy enterprises within this region. 

Typical SADC member states include (but are not limited to):
Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
