Applications are now open for the Re-Negotiate: International Climate Policy and Diplomacy Fellowship 2026, a global training initiative launched by Youth Climate Lab to prepare emerging climate leaders for meaningful participation in international climate governance spaces.

The 10-week fellowship combines virtual learning, mentorship, and collaborative engagement opportunities aimed at strengthening youth leadership in global climate negotiations and policy processes.

About the Fellowship

Re-Negotiate is a primarily online professional development program designed to help young climate advocates better understand and influence international climate diplomacy before, during, and beyond major global climate conferences.

Participants engage in structured learning that blends expert instruction, peer collaboration, and practical skill development. The program also includes two optional in-person convenings in Toronto and Montreal, providing additional opportunities for networking and experiential learning.

Through the fellowship, participants will:

• Gain practical knowledge of international climate policy and negotiation processes
• Develop advocacy, diplomacy, and climate communication skills
• Participate in mentorship sessions with climate policy experts
• Collaborate with peers across civil society, activism, and policy communities
• Join a growing international network of youth climate leaders

Program Structure

The fellowship integrates several learning components:

• Expert-led Training: Interactive sessions explaining global climate negotiations and policy systems
• Stream Specialization: Focused learning aligned with fellows’ interests and career pathways
• Mentorship: Guidance from experienced climate practitioners and negotiators

Although participation does not automatically guarantee accreditation to international negotiations, fellows may receive priority consideration for limited opportunities such as conference badges or travel support to events like SB Bonn or future COP meetings when available.
