FULLY FUNDED: Apply For The Spaces of Culture 2026 Call for Proposals

Applications are open for the Spaces of Culture 2026 Call for Proposals organized by European Union National Institutes for Culture. The programme supports innovative cultural relations projects across Sub-Saharan Africa and aims to strengthen collaboration between African and European cultural actors through equal partnerships, co-creation, and mutual learning. The initiative is part of the broader Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture programme funded by the European Union.

The programme seeks to support contemporary and creative initiatives in areas such as arts, creative industries, digitalisation, education, heritage, gender equality, human rights, tourism, youth engagement, sustainability, sports, and social inclusion. Selected projects can receive grants of up to EUR 50,000 to implement activities that promote dialogue, cultural exchange, and long-term cooperation between African and European partners.

Selected projects can receive funding of up to EUR 50,000 to support implementation. The funding is intended to support cultural collaborations that foster creativity, innovation, inclusion, and sustainable partnerships between African and European organizations. A minimum co-funding contribution of 5% from project partners is required.

In addition to financial support, successful participants gain opportunities to collaborate internationally with cultural institutions, artists, civil society groups, and European cultural networks. The programme also promotes visibility, knowledge exchange, and long-term partnerships that can continue beyond the funding period.
Eligibility Criteria
The call is open to projects taking place in countries across Sub-Saharan Africa. Applications must be submitted through a triangular partnership model involving at least three key local cultural or civil society organizations, at least three full EUNIC members (or two where no EUNIC cluster exists), and the involvement of an EU Delegation. Projects must be jointly designed and implemented by all partners involved.

Eligible projects should demonstrate principles of cultural relations including dialogue, co-creation, mutual listening, equal collaboration, and joint capacity building. The programme encourages innovative and locally relevant initiatives that create long-term impact within communities. Applicants are expected to work collaboratively and ensure that local ownership and participation are central to the project design and implementation.
Eligible Countries
The programme is open to organizations and partnerships implementing projects in countries within Sub-Saharan Africa. Eligible countries include nations such as Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Senegal, Cameroon, and other countries located in Sub-Saharan Africa.
