Applications are open for Young peacebuilders from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Germany, Spain and Italy to apply and participate in the Amani Pamoja (Peace Together) Training Course on Advocacy and Dialogue Skills for Peace, an international learning opportunity focused on strengthening young people’s ability to advocate for peace and engage in policy dialogue.

The training will bring together young people involved in youth-led and youth-focused organizations for practical learning, international exchange and partnership building. Participants will explore ways of influencing decision-makers, mobilizing young people and strengthening the implementation of the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Agenda.

The in-person course will take place in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, Spain, from 27 November to 3 December 2026, with preparatory online sessions held during October and November.

About the Amani Pamoja Initiative

Amani Pamoja, meaning “Peace Together,” is a transnational and intercontinental initiative designed to strengthen young people's participation in decision-making processes related to peace and security.

The initiative brings together organizations from six countries and seeks to build a learning alliance among young peacebuilders, particularly those who face barriers to participating in political and decision-making spaces or who are affected by violence and discrimination.

The programme focuses on helping young people develop the confidence, knowledge and practical skills needed to contribute to peacebuilding at community, national and international levels.

About the Training Course

The training focuses on peace advocacy, dialogue and policy engagement. Participants will have opportunities to share their experiences and learn from other young peacebuilders working in different contexts.

Key areas of learning include:

• Peace advocacy and campaigning
• Policy dialogue and engagement
• Youth participation in peace and security
• Conflict prevention
• Protection and reintegration
• Partnership and alliance building
• Engaging with political representatives
• Mobilizing young people for peacebuilding
• Understanding the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda
• Understanding relevant European and international policies
• Building partnerships across countries and regions

The course will also introduce participants to initiatives, networks and organizations working on peace-related issues in their respective countries.

Programme Format

The activity consists of four components:

1. Three preparatory online meetings in October and November 2026
2. A five-day in-person training course
3. Two travel days
4. Continued participation in an international youth learning alliance

The online meetings will last a maximum of two hours each.

The main in-person activity will take place in Vilanova i la Geltrú near Barcelona, Spain, from 27 November to 3 December 2026.

Selected participants are expected to commit to all four components of the programme.

Eligible Countries

Applications are invited from residents of:

Africa: Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania

Europe: Germany, Spain and Italy

The programme is expected to bring together 24 young peacebuilders from the six participating countries, alongside members of the international steering committee, trainers, reporters and facilitators.

Funding and Costs Covered

With support from the Erasmus+ programme, selected participants will receive financial support covering the main costs associated with participation.

The support includes:

• Travel to and from Spain
•  Accommodation
•  Food and subsistence costs
•  Local transport related to the programme
•  Training materials

Some additional expenses, including certain visa fees or specific insurance costs, may not be fully covered by the EU grant.

Participants who require a visa will be responsible for completing the necessary visa procedures. The coordinating and host organizations will provide assistance, including an invitation letter and hotel confirmation.
