FULLY FUNDED TO COP31, TÜRKIYE: Apply for the Chief Analyst Position at the African Climate Negotiations Situation Room

The INCLUDE Knowledge Platform, in partnership with the African Group of Negotiators (AGN), AU ECOSOCC, and ECOWAS, has announced a call for applications for the position of Chief Analyst for the African Climate Negotiations Situation Room at the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), scheduled to take place in Antalya, Türkiye, in November 2026.

The opportunity is part of an initiative aimed at strengthening Africa’s participation in global climate negotiations by providing negotiators with real-time intelligence, evidence synthesis, and strategic analytical support. Operating from the ECOWAS Pavilion during COP31, the African Climate Negotiations Situation Room will support negotiators through live analytical briefings, negotiation text tracking, position monitoring, and rapid-response insights focused on Africa’s priority climate issues.

The selected Chief Analyst will serve as the senior operational lead of the Situation Room, overseeing the analytical team, coordinating intelligence outputs, and acting as the primary link between analysts and African negotiators throughout the conference. Beyond the negotiations themselves, the role also involves contributing to preparations ahead of COP31, including dashboard development, simulation exercises, and coordination with thematic lead negotiators. The consultant will additionally support post-conference evaluations and institutional learning activities after the event.

Applicants should have extensive experience in international climate negotiations, including participation in at least five COP cycles as an active negotiator. They should also possess significant expertise in at least two thematic areas such as climate finance, loss and damage, mitigation and fossil fuel transition, Article 6 carbon markets, technology transfer, or just transition. Strong leadership skills, analytical ability, and experience working in fast-paced negotiation environments are essential for the role.

The consultancy will run from August to December 2026. The successful candidate will work remotely during the preparation phase before deploying full-time to Antalya from 9–20 November 2026 for the duration of COP31.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact details for two referees by 7 August 2026. Applications should be sent by email to faith@includeplatform.net with the subject line “Chief Analyst, African Climate Negotiations Situation Room.”

This initiative represents a major effort to enhance Africa’s negotiating capacity on the global climate stage by bringing together expertise, evidence, and strategic analysis to support the continent’s common position during one of the world’s most important climate conferences.
