COP31 Children & Youth Pavilion Side Event Application 2026

Applications are now open for organizations, youth-led groups, networks, institutions, and other partners interested in hosting a side event at the Children & Youth Pavilion (CYP) during COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye.

The opportunity is designed for groups with meaningful ideas, conversations, workshops, and activities that can strengthen youth participation, promote climate action, and create spaces where children and young people can connect, learn, and contribute to global climate discussions.

About the Children & Youth Pavilion

The Children & Youth Pavilion provides a dedicated space at COP31 for young people and their partners to bring youth perspectives into climate conversations. Proposed side events are expected to be inclusive, youth-centered, action-oriented, and aligned with the Pavilion's guiding principles and thematic priorities.

Applicants are encouraged to present practical ideas, personal experiences, innovative solutions, and conversations that can contribute to meaningful climate action.

Available Session Categories

Applicants can submit proposals under one of two categories:

1. Thematic Sessions

These sessions should connect with the COP31 Thematic Days and Children & Youth Pavilion priorities. Proposed activities may focus on areas such as:

  • Youth participation in climate action
  • Climate solutions and implementation
  • Youth-led initiatives
  • Climate advocacy and engagement
  • Practical approaches to addressing climate change

Two session formats are available:

  • Long Session: 45 minutes
  • Short Session: 15 minutes

2. Children & Youth Wellbeing and Engagement Sessions

These sessions are intended to create supportive spaces for children and young people, with emphasis on:

  • Wellbeing and care
  • Connection and community
  • Inclusion
  • Creativity
  • Meaningful youth engagement
  • Safe and supportive spaces

A separate application is required for each proposed side event.

Steering Committee membership does not guarantee acceptance. However, previous work with the Pavilion may be considered during the shortlisting process. Active Steering Committee members receive one additional point toward their overall score when serving as lead applicants or listed partners.

Funding and Logistics

Applicants should note that the Children & Youth Pavilion does not provide funding for the proposed side events.

The Pavilion will not provide:

  • COP31 accreditation badges
  • Travel funding
  • Accommodation
  • General logistical support
  • Other expenses beyond the allocated Pavilion venue and agreed session arrangements

Selected applicants will receive further information about scheduling, venue arrangements, technical requirements, and coordination with the CYP programme team.

Application Guidelines

Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals that clearly communicate their ideas, experiences, and plans for the proposed session.

The application should be completed in English.

The organizers encourage applicants to include personal stories and practical plans rather than relying entirely on generic descriptions.

AI tools may be used to support writing or language editing, but fully AI-generated applications will not be considered. Minor grammar or language mistakes will not negatively affect the evaluation.
