2026 UN Water Conference – Stakeholder Registration and Virtual Side Events – Register now
Registration is now open for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, giving accredited stakeholders an opportunity to participate in one of the major international gatherings focused on water, sanitation and the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6).
The conference will take place from 8–10 December 2026 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and will be co-hosted by Senegal and the United Arab Emirates.
Alongside in-person participation, the conference is also accepting applications for selected virtual side events, creating another opportunity for eligible organisations to contribute to discussions, share knowledge and highlight solutions connected to water and sanitation.
About the 2026 UN Water Conference
The 2026 UN Water Conference is focused on accelerating implementation of SDG 6: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
The conference is expected to bring together governments, United Nations entities, intergovernmental organisations, international financial institutions, civil society organisations, academic and scientific institutions, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, the private sector, philanthropic organisations and other relevant stakeholders.
The broader objective is to assess challenges and opportunities related to water and sanitation while encouraging further action towards SDG 6 and other water-related targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Stakeholder Registration
Accredited non-governmental organisations, major groups and other relevant stakeholder organisations can request registration for their representatives to attend the conference in person as observers.
Eligible organisations include:
- Non-governmental organisations.
- Major groups identified in Agenda 21.
- Stakeholder organisations in consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
- Organisations specially accredited to relevant United Nations conferences under General Assembly resolution A/RES/78/327.
Each organisation can register up to 10 representatives.
Registration Deadline
Requests for stakeholder registration must be submitted by:
6 November 2026 at 23:59 EDT
Different registration routes apply depending on the organisation's accreditation status.
Virtual Side Event Applications
The conference is also inviting applications to organise a selected number of virtual side events that will run alongside the official programme.
Eligible applicants include:
- UN Member States.
- UN entities.
- Intergovernmental organisations.
- Accredited stakeholders.
Virtual side events are intended to provide additional space for organisations and institutions to collaborate, exchange knowledge and contribute to efforts to accelerate implementation of SDG 6 and the 2030 Agenda.
