Applications are open for the AYFICE COP31 Youth Delegate Program, an opportunity for young Australians to attend the UNFCCC COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9–20 November 2026.

Organised by Australian Youth for International Climate Engagement (AYFICE), the programme is designed to support young Australians to participate more actively in international climate discussions. Selected delegates will receive financial assistance, mentorship and capacity-building support while gaining opportunities to connect with negotiators, government representatives, climate experts, activists and other young people from Australia and around the world.

AYFICE is a youth-led organisation focused on bringing more young Australian voices into international climate discussions. The organisation particularly seeks to amplify diverse perspectives, including those of First Nations and Pasifika youth, frontline communities and other underrepresented groups.

About the COP31 Youth Delegate Program

For its fourth Youth Delegate Programme, AYFICE expects to select 2–3 young Australians to participate in COP31, subject to available funding. One position will be reserved for a young Australian from a First Nations or Pasifika diaspora background.

The selected delegates will form part of a diverse youth delegation and receive support before, during and after COP31 to help them make meaningful contributions to the conference and share their experiences with wider communities.

Mentorship and Capacity Building

Beyond financial assistance, selected participants will receive opportunities designed to strengthen their climate leadership and international engagement skills.

These include:

• On-the-ground mentoring from an experienced AYFICE mentor during COP31.
• Capacity-building workshops and access to additional resources.
• Briefings and potential shadowing opportunities with Australian negotiators, government officials and other climate leaders.
• Networking with young Australians and international participants.
• Support to design and implement a COP-related project before, during and after the conference.
• Opportunities to engage with negotiators, experts, activists and other stakeholders.
• Opportunities to speak at COP events, subject to successful applications for event slots.

Selection Process

Applicants should be prepared to complete several long-answer questions as part of the application, with individual responses expected to be between 200 and 500 words. Applicants are encouraged to save their responses as they work through the application.

Shortlisted applicants will progress to an interview stage expected to take place around 9–11 October 2026, with final outcomes released shortly afterwards.
