Applications are open for Young environmental leaders from around the world are invited to apply for the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council Program 2026, a global leadership initiative coordinated by The Ocean Project. The program brings together 20–25 young conservation advocates who are passionate about protecting the ocean and tackling climate change through youth-led action, advocacy, and international collaboration.
Selected participants will serve a one-year term ending in June 2027, gaining leadership training, mentorship, networking opportunities, and the chance to contribute to global campaigns that promote ocean conservation and climate action.
Responsibilities
Council members will actively contribute to World Ocean Day initiatives by:
- Serving as ambassadors for ocean conservation and climate action.
- Promoting environmental awareness within their communities.
- Supporting global advocacy campaigns and outreach activities.
- Writing articles and sharing conservation stories.
- Collaborating with fellow council members and alumni on youth-led initiatives.
- Providing strategic recommendations to strengthen World Ocean Day campaigns.
- Supporting the development of regional youth conservation networks.
Program Commitment
Successful applicants should be prepared to:
- Serve for one year until June 2027.
- Attend at least five virtual meetings.
- Participate in three to four advisory surveys.
- Maintain regular monthly communication with the council.
- Complete a four-week virtual leadership training program, consisting of weekly learning sessions and group discussions.
- Contribute to collaborative conservation projects and campaign activities throughout the year.
Selection Process
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Demonstrated conservation experience.
- Leadership potential.
- Commitment to environmental advocacy.
- Motivation to contribute to global collaboration.
- Diversity of backgrounds and geographic representation.
Approximately 20–25 youth leaders will be selected globally.
