Contest for the United Nations SIDS Partnerships Awards 2026

Applications are now open for the United Nations Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Partnerships Awards 2026, an international recognition programme celebrating outstanding partnerships that contribute to sustainable development across Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

The awards honour collaborative initiatives that demonstrate measurable impact while advancing the priorities of the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS (ABAS).

Established by United Nations Member States, the awards aim to showcase innovative, inclusive, and lasting partnerships that address sustainable development challenges and strengthen cooperation among governments, international organizations, civil society, academia, the private sector, and other stakeholders.

Selected partnerships will receive international recognition, increased visibility, and an opportunity to present their achievements to a global audience during the 2026 Global Multi-Stakeholder SIDS Partnership Dialogue.

Award Categories

The awards recognize partnerships contributing to the three dimensions of sustainable development:

  • Economic Development
  • Social Development
  • Environmental Sustainability

Evaluation Criteria

Eligible partnerships will be assessed based on several factors, including:

  • Relevance to the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS (ABAS)
  • Demonstrated results and measurable impact
  • Innovation and effectiveness
  • Inclusiveness and stakeholder participation
  • Governance and accountability
  • Long-term sustainability
  • Potential for replication or scaling

Eligibility Criteria
Applications are welcome from organizations and institutions supporting sustainable development in Small Island Developing States, including:

- National and local governments
- United Nations entities
- Development partners
- Regional and intergovernmental organizations
- Civil society organizations
- Private sector organizations
- Academic and research institutions
- Other stakeholders involved in multi-stakeholder partnerships

Applicants should demonstrate clear and measurable contributions toward sustainable development priorities in SIDS.
