FULLY FUNDED TO STRASBOURG, FRANCE: Youth Delegation to the World Forum for Democracy 2026 in France
Young people from around the world are invited to apply for the World Forum for Democracy Youth Delegation 2026, an opportunity to represent youth perspectives in global discussions about the future of democracy and contribute ideas towards building stronger, more inclusive democratic systems.
The youth delegation will take part in the 14th edition of the World Forum for Democracy, which will be held in Strasbourg, France, from 2–3 November 2026 under the theme “Rupture or Renewal? Democratic Security for Our Future.” The event is organised within the framework of the New Democratic Pact for Europe, an initiative of the Council of Europe focused on exploring how democratic societies can respond to emerging challenges and prepare for the future.
The World Forum for Democracy brings together political leaders, civil society actors, activists, researchers, and young changemakers to discuss innovative approaches to strengthening democracy. Through the exchange of ideas, the forum highlights grassroots initiatives and explores how successful democratic practices can be expanded to create more participatory and inclusive societies.
Selected youth delegates will participate in online preparation sessions between September and October 2026, followed by a dedicated youth delegation training programme in Strasbourg from 31 October to 1 November 2026. They will then attend the World Forum for Democracy on 2–3 November and participate in the Youth Day on 4 November 2026 before departing on 5 November.
The programme is open to young people aged 18–30 who can communicate and work independently in English. Applicants should be actively involved in a youth organisation, movement, or initiative working on democracy, youth participation, civic engagement, or innovative democratic practices at local, national, regional, or international level.
Applicants should also demonstrate the ability to share the outcomes of the programme with their organisations and communities after the event. Previous experience with the Council of Europe youth sector, including participation in activities supported by the European Youth Foundation or initiatives connected to democratic participation, will be considered an advantage.
The Council of Europe will cover travel and visa-related costs according to its regulations. Accommodation and meals will also be provided at the European Youth Centre Strasbourg throughout the programme period.
The activity will take place from 30 October to 5 November 2026 in Strasbourg, France.
The deadline to submit applications is 14 August 2026 at 14:00 Strasbourg time.
