Global Call for Sustainable Industrial AI-Powered Solutions 2026

Applications are open for the Global Call for Sustainable Industrial AI-Powered Solutions, an international opportunity seeking practical and scalable artificial intelligence solutions capable of supporting a more inclusive, sustainable and resilient industrial future.

The initiative is being led by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), together with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (UNODET), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO) and the World Robot Cooperation Organization (WRCO).

The call is particularly relevant for innovators, technology developers, startups, companies, research teams and other solution providers working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital transformation and sustainable industrial development.

About the Global Call

The Global Call for Sustainable Industrial AI-Powered Solutions is looking for deployable AI-powered solutions that can contribute to inclusive industrial transformation, particularly in developing and middle-income economies.

The initiative supports the implementation of Global Digital Compact Objective 2, which seeks to expand inclusion in and benefits from the digital economy for all.

Solutions do not necessarily have to be at the same stage of development. Innovations that are already demonstrating results, are ready to scale, or show strong potential for deployment may be considered.

Innovation Tracks

Applicants can submit solutions under five thematic tracks:

1. Embodied AI, Industrial Robotics and Smart Manufacturing

Solutions using robotics, automation, intelligent machines and embodied AI to improve industrial processes, productivity and manufacturing systems.

2. Industrial AI Models and Intelligent Decision-Making

AI models and applications that support industrial decision-making, forecasting, optimization, automation and improved operational performance.

3. Industrial Digital Infrastructure and Data Ecosystems

Solutions focused on digital infrastructure, data systems, connectivity, interoperability and other technologies that strengthen industrial digital ecosystems.

4. AI for Green, Resilient and Sustainable Industry

AI-powered innovations addressing environmental sustainability, resource efficiency, climate resilience, energy efficiency, circularity and greener industrial production.

5. Industrial Ecosystem Enablers

Solutions that help address critical industrial challenges related to finance, skills development, market access and other enabling conditions for innovation and digital transformation.

What Selected Solutions Can Gain

Selected solutions will receive international visibility through UNIDO and partner platforms and initiatives.

They are expected to be showcased and promoted through multiple channels, including the UNIDO Solutions Platform and major international events.

A major opportunity for selected innovators will be participation in the AIM Global Action Forum 2026, taking place on 25–26 November 2026 at the Vienna International Centre in Austria as part of activities marking UNIDO's 60th anniversary.

The initiative will connect selected innovators with industry leaders, policymakers, development actors and potential partners from around the world.

Why This Opportunity Matters

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how industries operate, but access to these technologies and their benefits remains uneven.

This global call provides innovators with an opportunity to demonstrate how AI can move beyond experimentation and deliver practical solutions for industrial productivity, sustainability, resilience and inclusion.

For innovators working in areas such as smart manufacturing, robotics, climate technology, circular economy, digital infrastructure, industrial data, green technology and AI-enabled decision-making, the call offers a pathway to reach international audiences and potential strategic partners.

The deadline to submit applications is 9 November 2026.

Selected applicants are expected to be notified in early November 2026, with selected solutions subsequently promoted and showcased through the initiative's international platforms and events.
