WHO Career Opportunities in Kampala, Uganda
Required Qualifications
Education
Essential: University degree in life science, medicine or medical virology from anaccredited/ recognized institute. Certified training or qualification inmolecular biology, virology, bacteriology, infectious diseases, and/orepidemiology and laboratory techniques
Desirable: Master’s level degree in public health or health related field or Advanced University degree (Master’s level or above in life science, medicine or medical virology from an accredited/ recognized institute.
Experience
Essential: At least five years of practical and operational application and management of laboratory services, laboratory diagnosis of communicable diseases at the national and international levels. Some related experience in outbreaks and/or health emergency response of international impact
Desirable: Experience in establishing or improving laboratory infrastructure for microbiology and/or detection of infectious diseases. Experience in planning and implementing laboratory trainings at national and regional levels. Experience in evaluating novel diagnostics assays for emergency use authorization during outbreak response. Previous experience in UN organizations/agencies, health cluster partners, recognized humanitarian organizations, international institutions or non-governmental organizations, particularly in developing countries.
2. Infection Prevention & Control Officer
Required Qualifications
Education
Essential: First level university degree in nursing, medicine, pharmacy, Laboratory science, microbiology or epidemiology. Certified training in the area of IPC from an accredited/recognized institute an added advantage.
Desirable: Master’s level degree in IPC or related field. Training in a clinical care discipline and IPC course.
Experience
Essential: At least five years of experience in developing, implementing and evaluating infection and prevention control policies, procedures and tools in low resource settings, and outbreaks and or health emergency response. Related experience in managing resources and working effectively in a multi-stakeholder international environment including developing and promoting collaborative actions with national authorities.
Desirable: Experience in evaluating novel diagnostics assays for emergency use authorization during outbreak response. Previous experience in UN organizations/agencies, health cluster partners, recognized humanitarian organizations, international institutions or nongovernmental organizations, particularly in developing countries.
Required Qualifications
Education
Essential: University degree in health-related field, management, emergency, humanitarian, disaster manage mentor related field from an accredited/recognized institute.
Desirable: Advanced university degree in health-related field, management, emergency, humanitarian, disaster management or related field from an accredited/recognized institute. Specialized training in emergency management; Public Health, Epidemiology, and specific training in humanitarian response.
Experience
Essential: At least 2 years of related experience in emergency management and operations, with proven experience in emergency response. Substantial experience in supporting outbreak response is essential. Experience in promoting collaborative partnerships and working in the district health system.
Desirable: Relevant work experience in WHO, other UN agencies; experience working in relevant non-governmental or humanitarian organizations. Experience in developing countries.
4. Data Manager
Required Qualifications
Education
Essential: First university degree in information or data management, computer sciences, statistics, applied math or public health, complemented by training in databases development and/or management from an accredited/recognized institute.
Desirable: Post graduate degree in public health, qualitative surveillance or statistics.
Experience
Essential: At least Two years’ relevant experience combined at the national and international levels in data and/or information management, including experience in emergency operations or humanitarian context.
Desirable: Prior emergency disaster and health outbreak response or humanitarian working experience at field level, with WHO/UN agencies, health cluster partners, recognized humanitarian organizations or with an international nongovernmental organization.
Required Qualifications
Education
Essential: Degree in Medicine with additional training in a clinical discipline or infectious disease management or other clinical disciplines from an accredited/recognized institute.
Desirable: Master’s level degree in clinical discipline.
Experience
Essential: Essential: At least 5 years of relevant experience, combined at the national and international levels in Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) Case Management/IPC with significant exposures to EVD outbreak situations.
Desirable: Prior humanitarian working experience at field level, with WHO, other UN agencies; experience working in relevant non-governmental or humanitarian organizations. Experience in working in developing countries.
