FULLY FUNDED TO NEW YORK: Apply the 2nd edition of the United Nations Youth Champions for Disarmament Training Programme

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has placed a strong emphasis on engaging and empowering young people, recognizing their crucial role in finding innovative solutions to address the urgent challenges our world faces.

In alignment with this vision, the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), with generous financial support from the Government of Germany, invites young individuals to apply for the 2nd edition of the United Nations Youth Champions for Disarmament Training Programme. This program is designed to empower youth to actively contribute to disarmament efforts within their communities.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 24 and have an interest in participating in an innovative learning program to enhance your ability to advocate for peace, disarmament, non-proliferation, and arms control in your community, here's your chance. By applying, you also have the opportunity to attend a regional workshop in person and visit the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Apply now for a chance to be selected for a fully funded participation in the 2nd edition of the training program. The application deadline is November 27, 2023. To be eligible for the training program, applicants must be between 18 and 24 years old at the time of the application deadline.

This edition of the training program will adopt a regional approach, bringing together a diverse group of young disarmament advocates from various regions, including Africa and Europe; Asia and the Pacific; the Americas and the Caribbean. It will allow them to share their unique regional perspectives and connect to the global disarmament discourse. Furthermore, the program includes three job opportunities with UNODA for young professionals, which will be announced in due course.

The 15 selected United Nations Youth Champions for Disarmament will receive training in the fundamentals of disarmament, non-proliferation, and arms control, along with their connections to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. After completing initial courses, they will engage in regular discussions with experts from think tanks, civil society organizations, and diplomatic fields, all facilitated by UNODA. This will be followed by regional workshops and youth forums. At the conclusion of the training, the 15 Youth Champions will have the opportunity to present their perspectives at an event at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
