KWI fellowship program
Outstanding academics in the social sciences, humanities, and cultural studies are the target audience for the KWI fellowship programme. In addition to office space, technical support, event and research management, administrative and communication support, and a library, the institution offers fellows sophisticated infrastructure.
The Essen Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) follows the tradition of other institutes for advanced study by being an interdisciplinary research centre for the social sciences and humanities. Situated in the Ruhr Area, KWI provides a setting for autonomous and creative humanities study as well as a number of ways to interact with and involve the public. Public humanities, science communication, literary and cultural sociology, and cultural science studies are the current areas of focus for KWI research.
Cultures of communication are one of the topics of future projects. Developing novel approaches to connect the theories, concepts, research topics, and methodologies of philology, cultural studies, and the social sciences is one of KWI's primary objectives. They are committed to using global cooperation to advance the transdisciplinary goal. The Academy in Exile makes a significant contribution to the intellectual and political activity by providing research space to colleagues whose academic independence is under threat.
The KWI fellowship offers a variety of project options and is focused on research pertaining to the programmatic agenda. It is expected of fellows to lead workshops, take part in academic activities, and be present for at least three days a week in KWI Biog. While they are not required to instruct, their fresh ideas can stimulate lab instruction. KWI should be mentioned in publications; familiarity with German is not necessary. Because of the semester scheduling, successful applicants must start their fellowship on October 1st, with no flexibility allowed for start or end dates.
Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 28th February 2024.
