Graduate Data Management Intern:
Position: Graduate Data Management Intern
Reports to: Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist
Location: Kampala Office with frequent visit to project sites
Supervises: Enumerators, Community-based Data clerks
Project Summary
Uganda’s high forest cover loss projected at 122,000ha of forest per year (MWE, 2016), is recognized as
one of the highest in the World. In response, WWF Uganda implements Forest Land Restoration initiatives
in the Albertine Graben and other landscapes in the Country.
Job Summary
The Graduate Data Management Intern will play a pivotal role in enhancing FLR data management across
WWF UCO projects. Focused on optimizing data collection, digitization, analysis, and visualization
processes, the intern will ensure accurate and efficient monitoring of FLR initiatives. Leveraging tools such
as Kobo Toolbox, GIS platforms, and data analytics software (SPSS, Stata, NVivo), the intern will support
the creation of interactive dashboards and comprehensive reports, thereby bolstering the evidence-based
decision-making and impact assessment of conservation efforts. This role is crucial for achieving real-time,
actionable insights into FLR progress and outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive data management strategies for
FLR projects to ensure efficient data collection, storage, and analysis processes.
• Support the digitalization of data collection tools and processes using platforms like Kobo Toolbox
for efficient and accurate data collection.
• Contribute to the mapping of all FLR interventions and the production of interactive dashboards for
real-time monitoring and decision-making.
• Provide technical support in collating, analyzing, and consolidating GIS and monitoring data, and
preparing reports on FLR activities using monitoring tools in place.
• Engage in field-level data management activities, including digital data collection, and support
partners in collecting and analyzing project data.
• Support in the ongoing support and training to field staff and enumerators on FLR data management
practices, tools, and technologies to enhance project monitoring and evaluation capabilities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Population studies, Business Economics,
or related disciplines, obtained not more than 3 years ago, with at least a second-class upper
division.
• Familiarity with data analytics software (SPSS, Stata, NVivo) and GIS tools.
Required Skills and Competences:
• Strong analytical and data management skills.
• Experience in using data analysis and management software like SPSS, Stata, PowerBI, among others.
• Detail-oriented with good technical report writing skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

2 They looking for a dynamic Project Accountant to support in the effective delivery of projects in
WWF Uganda County Office.
Type of Contract – Fixed term
Location: - Kasese
The Role:
The Project Accountant will provide support in the implementation of conservation work under the
guidance of the Senior Accountant while working closely with the Grants and Finance specialist and the
project implementing teams.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Monitor project fund flows, prepare calls for funds from donors as per agreed schedules and
follow up with respective donors for fund remittances.
2. Promptly process payments to staff, implementing partners, statutory bodies and other third
parties through the online bank payment platforms, cash and checks as may be appropriate.
3. Timely processing of financial transaction in the accounting system, prepare monthly bank
reconciliations and other balance sheet accounts reconciliation and submit to the Finance
Manager for approval
4. Prepare budgets for grant proposals, and periodic budget forecasts for ongoing projects that are
compliant with the donor guidelines, and internal cost recovery Standards
5. Follow up with project teams to ensure that agreed project work-plans are adhered to and that
the budget absorption is following the forecasted trend.
6. Prepare periodic donor financial reports as per agreed reporting schedules and formats and
discuss budget performance comments with the project managers before submission to the
donors.
7. Conduct periodic training sessions for staff and implementing partners on internal financial
management policies, donor rules and all applicable country laws and legislations that may
impact financial processed in the country office and enforce total compliance at all times.
8. Drive initiatives to improve workflow and streamline the internal control processes, policies and
procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity;
9. Maintain proper records of each assigned project as per internal and donor record retention
policies and guidelines to facilitate future reviews by auditors, donors and also for smooth staff
transition
10. Coordinate project specific compliance and annual audit processes as per donor agreements
11. Follow up with project teams and implementing partners to ensure audit recommendations are
addressed timely as per agreed audit action plan
12. Work closely with the project implementation teams to identify and report to management on
risks that affect effective project delivery
13. Lead and guide teams on project close-out financial processes for ending projects as per close-out
guidelines in the donor agreements
What you need:
Qualifications and experience
University degree in Accounting/finance or a related field and a professional accounting qualification
such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (ACCA) is an added advantage ; At
least three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience in financial accounting,
preferably in an international environment (NGO or Company). Experience working with government
and OR donor funded projects with proficiency in the use of MS Office applications, particularly
advanced level in MS excel is required. Experience in using ERP system is highly desirable.
Required Skills and Competencies
A team player with strong inter-personal skills demonstrated by the ability to work in a multicultural,
multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Strong ability to establish
prioritize, work within tight timelines and multi-task. Able to work under minimal supervision with
high level of resilience with strong oral and written communication skills in English. Identifies and
