This Academy fellowship is available to people who have experienced forced relocation and is looking for applicants to collaborate with our Environment and Society Centre.

The Royal Institute of International Affairs, also known as Chatham House, is a reputable platform for discussion and debate and one of the top independent policy institutes in the world. Located in London, we have been advancing understanding of a world undergoing rapid change through research and ideas for almost a century. Our goal as a global think tank is to assist societies and governments in creating a safe, wealthy, and just world that can be sustained. Through discussion, analysis, and the presentation of ideas based on solutions, we work towards this goal.

In the twenty-first century, Chatham House aspires to educate the next generation of intellectuals to tackle the problems of the future.

Established in 2014 and inaugurated by Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen Elizabeth II Academy for Leadership and the Next Generation seeks to empower upcoming policy makers and promote constructive global change by providing future leaders with the knowledge, abilities, and connections necessary to create a long-lasting, positive influence on international affairs.

With the help of our esteemed research teams and integrated into our specialised training programme, academy scholarships present an exciting chance to:

Develop a research project at a top policy institute globally, hone important leadership abilities, and establish a connection with Chatham House's exclusive expert network by participating in discussions and debates to broaden comprehension of important global topics.

Fellowships in the Academy

Worldwide Action Platform The Climate and Sustainability Academy Fellowship is a collaborative effort between Chatham House, the University of Oxford Refugee-Led Research Hub (RLRH), and the Global Platform for Action on Sustainable Energy in Displacement Settings (GPA), which is housed at The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

The position, which closes on April 8, 2024, calls for a hybrid work/home arrangement with a minimum of two weekly office hours and attendance at leadership courses.

Program Benefits
A monthly stipend of £2,365 is provided to Academy Fellows to cover living expenses in London, such as housing, utilities, food, transport and other essentials.

Furthermore, the Academy will pay reasonable expenses for:

Transport (plane, rail, etc.) to/from the UK, three nights lodging, visas, additional cases/boxes, etc.
The UK National Health Service is accessible upon payment of the Immigration Healthcare Surcharge in the UK. (Note: you could have to pay for doctor-prescribed medications, dentistry, and optical services.)
Expenses associated with fieldwork, travel, conferences, publications, roundtables, events, and distribution
Eligibility Criteria
The chosen candidate must have demonstrated leadership ability, relevant prior experience, firsthand knowledge of forced relocation, and experience performing independent research. In addition to being eager to contribute to the Environment and Society Centre, they must also show motivation, speak English fluently, show a commitment to Chatham House's mission, submit a clear and compelling research proposal, and possess strong quantitative data analysis abilities.
