The purpose of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Scholarship is to provide undergraduate, postgraduate, and training opportunities for young Muslim scholars from underprivileged backgrounds who exhibit academic merit and live in non-Muslim areas.

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has been eager to concentrate on human capital development in addition to its mainstream development financing activities since its founding, understanding the value of skilled human resources for societal growth and sustainable development.

1. The IsDB Scholarship Program for Muslim Communities in Non-Member Countries (SPMC) was initiated in 1983 to support academically excellent yet financially disadvantaged young Muslim students from non-member countries to pursue undergraduate studies in various fields such as medicine, engineering, computer sciences, and agriculture either in their home countries or in IsDB member countries. 2. Established in 1998, the IsDB Master of Science Scholarship Program (M.Sc.) aims to aid 20 IsDB LDMCs in enhancing their human capital, particularly in science and technology, which are essential for their progress.

3. Launched in 1992, the IsDB Merit Scholarship Program for High Technology (MSP) focuses on providing opportunities for advanced studies and research, including 3-year Ph.D. and 6-12-month post-Doctorate programs, in 16 applied science and high technology fields crucial for the development of member countries.

4. Introduced in 2019, the IsDB-ISFD Scholarship Program, in collaboration with the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), aims to alleviate poverty in 21 Least Developed IsDB Member Countries (LDMCs) by offering educational opportunities to deserving young individuals pursuing bachelor studies or technical diplomas in fields such as medicine, engineering, and agriculture.
