1. US Mission Uganda announces political assistant position with open period from 04/19/2024 to 05/02/2024, salary UGX 86,951,739, security clearance required, and indefinite appointment.
Applications are being accepted for the 40-hour per week post of Political Assistant at the U.S. Mission in Uganda. Under close supervision, the position holder will manage a portfolio of political and economic reporting support, with an emphasis on entrepreneurship, government accountability, science, technology, and health, civil society, human rights, and the environment.
They will maintain contacts with Uganda's government and civil society, participate in the interagency democracy working group of the U.S. Mission, and produce reports on human rights and religious freedom that Congress has mandated.
At least five years of experience in foreign policy, politics, social development, academia, or journalism is required for the position. Fluency in English and Swahili is also required, as is the ability to communicate with Ugandan officials, civil society organisations, scientists, academics, and political leaders.
A bachelor's degree in political science, economics, history, journalism, or human rights is also required. In addition, familiarity of ESH concerns and Uganda's political and economic structures is necessary.

2.Administrative Assistant (AA).
Peace Corps, an international agency of the US Government, operates in Uganda through a memorandum of understanding with Uganda's government. Volunteers are assigned to various organizations, including government agencies, community-based organizations, and universities, to provide capacity building in education, health, and community agribusiness. The position is a Personal Services Contract, with an annual pay range of 50,500,012 to 73,751,394 UGX.
A bachelor's degree in business administration, social work, or a similar discipline is needed for the position, along with extra HR training. It is necessary to have prior experience in administrative and HR roles, with an emphasis on multicultural settings. English fluency, computer proficiency, and organisational skills are prerequisites.
The perfect applicant will prioritise a variety of duties, have excellent organisational skills, and be authorised to work in Uganda.
The Peace Corps (PC) office in Kampala, Uganda, receives administrative and logistical support from the Administrative Assistant (AA). The Deputy Director of Management and Operations (DDMO) will assign work, which may include duties related to human resources, administration, and reception. It will be expected of the AA to keep track of files and appointments, greet guests, sort mail, distribute cables, and distribute other documents to the relevant PC personnel, and so on. In addition, the AA will maintain an effective information flow, write and prepare regular correspondence, and uphold strict secrecy at all times.
