Fully Funded to Finland : Apply for the Suomenlinna World Heritage | ESC Volunteering in Helsinki

A fantastic chance for 13 volunteers from the EU and Ukraine to participate in the "Suomenlinna World Heritage" ESC Team Volunteering project in Helsinki, Finland for two weeks. The European Union's European Solidarity Corps programme is providing funding for this project, which is being coordinated by "The Governing Body of Suomenlinna".

Concerning the host organisation

The Suomenlinna Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is overseen by the Suomenlinna Governing Body, a governmental organisation. They maintain it, make repairs, oversee it, and give it to visitors. Their responsibility is to ensure the future safety of the stronghold and all of its historical artefacts. The Finnish government has pledged to maintain Suomenlinna and other important sites in the best possible state. Events like as the August 2024 Suomenlinna World Heritage Volunteer camp are organised by the Suomenlinna Governing Body. Volunteers from the European Solidarity Corps assist with this project at Suomenlinna.

Under the direction of site managers and specialists, volunteers will help restore antique cannons and clean up the area surrounding Suomenlinna Fortress. Along with learning about history, conservation, and sustainable tourism, they will also get the chance to instruct others about World Heritage sites in their own nations. Locals will be invited to assist with landscaping at the location on a special day.
