This program's maximum grant amount is one million Japanese yen per project, with a one-year maximum award period.

The following requirements must be met for a proposed publication to be considered: it must be on the subject of nature conservation in the Asia-Pacific region (e.g., the natural environment, its conservation and sustainable use, or other topics related to living organisms); it must be printed as book material; it must be based on the applicant's or co-author(s) own research work on a specific topic in nature conservation; it must be anticipated to deepen and expand knowledge of the natural environment and its conservation among the general public
be composed in either English or the applicant's native tongue; be free of copyright violations;
be released on the appointed year.

- The applicant must be a national of a developing Asia-Pacific country, a full-time researcher/scientist, and the author of a proposed publication. They must be fluent in English, have no other NEF applications or ongoing projects, and have no other projects funded by the NEF at the time of application submission.
