Harvard Law School is set to offer the Reginald F. Lewis Fellowship for Law Teaching, with the appointment expected to begin on July 1, 2024. This fellowship aims to provide support to recent law graduates who have a strong interest in legal scholarship and are preparing for careers in law teaching.
Harvard Law School follows a selection process for fellows that does not discriminate based on various factors such as race, color, religion, gender, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or any other characteristic protected by law. They actively encourage applications from candidates who can contribute to the diversification of the legal academic community.
The Lewis Fellow is required to produce at least one significant article for publication and has the opportunity to participate in courses and workshops at the law school. The specific research and work schedule will be determined in consultation with the Lewis Committee.
The term for the Lewis Fellowship will run from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, and the Lewis Fellow will receive an annual stipend of $55,000. During the academic year, the Lewis Fellow is expected to be in residence at Harvard Law School.
The Reginald F. Lewis Fellowship for Law Teaching is made possible through a generous gift from Reginald F. Lewis, an alumnus of Harvard Law School (Class of 1968), and his wife, Loida Nicolas-Lewis. Mr. Lewis, who passed away in 1993, made a substantial grant to the Law School before his death, which was the largest at the time. In recognition of his contribution, Harvard Law School's International Law Center was renamed in his honor. Reginald F. Lewis was the founding CEO of TLC Beatrice Foods International and authored the book titled "Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun?"
Harvard Law School is renowned for its unmatched combination of excellence and diversity, bringing together exceptionally talented individuals from around the world, each with their unique backgrounds, experiences, interests, ambitions, and perspectives.
