Apply for the Global Youth Climate Training Programme (GYCT) 2026

Applications are now open for the Global Youth Climate Training Programme (GYCT) 2026, a free online learning initiative designed to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to engage effectively in international climate policy, advocacy, and negotiations.

Organised by the Global Youth Coalition, the programme will run from 2 September to 22 September 2026, bringing together participants from around the world for expert-led sessions covering key climate issues. The training is open to 500 young people aged 16–35 and is delivered entirely online, making it accessible to participants regardless of location.

Programme Overview

The 2026 edition features four interactive learning sessions led by experts in climate policy and sustainable development. Participants will explore major global climate topics, including:

  • Geopolitics and international climate governance
  • Energy transition and loss and damage
  • Climate education, Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE), and disability inclusion
  • Climate finance and climate adaptation

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will receive a certificate recognising their participation.

Advanced Negotiation Track

A select group of 20 participants will be invited to join an additional negotiators' pathway delivered by experienced climate negotiators from the Global Youth Coalition and the Youth Negotiators Academy (YNA).

Running between 29 September and 13 October 2026, this specialised track includes three advanced sessions and concludes with a practical COP simulation, providing participants with first-hand experience of international climate negotiations.

Language and Accessibility

The main training sessions will be delivered in English and include:

  • Live Spanish interpretation
  • Closed captions
  • Potential interpretation in additional languages, subject to availability

The four main sessions will also be recorded and made publicly available after the programme. The specialised negotiators' track will be conducted in English with closed captions but will not be recorded.

Additional Opportunities

Participants who complete the programme may have the opportunity to apply to stay at the Global Youth Coalition House in Antalya during COP31. Additional bursaries or participation support may also become available, depending on funding, although participation in the programme does not guarantee financial assistance.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 10 August 2026 (23:59 BST)
