Apply for the inaugural Commonwealth Young Leaders Fellowship 2026
Applications are now open for the inaugural Commonwealth Young Leaders Fellowship 2026, a three-month leadership development programme designed to equip emerging leaders across the Commonwealth with the knowledge, practical experience, and international networks needed to drive sustainable development and positive change.
Organized by the Commonwealth Leaders Academy, the fellowship brings together outstanding young leaders committed to community development, public service, innovation, climate justice, democratic governance, and social impact. Participants will engage in immersive learning, mentorship, institutional placements, and leadership projects while collaborating with peers from across Commonwealth member states.
The programme will run from August to October 2026, culminating in a final showcase where fellows will present the impact of their leadership projects.

Fellowship Structure

International Convenings
Selected fellows will participate in:
- A one-week leadership programme in London, United Kingdom, during late August 2026.
- A second one-week convening in Antigua and Barbuda, alongside activities connected to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Travel and Financial Support
Applicants should note that, for this inaugural cohort, fellows are generally expected to cover their own travel-related expenses.
However, the fellowship secretariat will:
- Provide invitation and visa support letters.
- Offer partial travel bursaries or accommodation assistance where funding becomes available and based on demonstrated need.
- Encourage fellows to seek additional support from employers, universities, national youth councils, or other sponsoring institutions.
