Apply for the NGO CSW/NY Global Youth Fellows program 2024-2025

The NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York Youth Leaders & Young Professionals is excited to announce the second cohort of the Global Youth Fellows program. This initiative seeks to strengthen the global network of youth advocates for gender equality by highlighting and celebrating the work of 15 young activists.

Applications are now open for those interested in joining this year's cohort, offering the chance to connect with a global community of like-minded youth that will support and inspire them for years to come.

This year's Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will focus on the 30th anniversary of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Recognized as the most progressive and comprehensive framework for advancing women's rights, it continues to guide the Commission's and NGO CSW/NY's mission.

The 2024 cohort will center its programming around the Platform's 12 critical areas and the human rights framework it promotes for women and girls. NGO CSW/NY emphasizes that the Beijing Declaration applies to all women and girls, including those of diverse gender identities.

Background

The Youth Leaders & Young Professionals (YLYPs) are a community of passionate young advocates dedicated to global gender equality, with a focus on engaging with and understanding UN processes, particularly the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). Recognizing the importance of intergenerational dialogue in advancing gender equality, NGO CSW/NY established the YLYP program to empower youth to actively participate in the global women's rights movement. The program aims to expand young people's networks and amplify their voices in global discussions on the rights of women and girls.

Roles, Responsibilities, and Benefits

Participants will need to commit to attending monthly meetings and completing assigned tasks throughout the program. Selected fellows will receive:
- The opportunity to have their story and activism featured in a multimedia publication.

- The chance to take over NGO CSW/NY's Instagram account to share their story, promote their work, and engage with the community.
