
Fully Funded to Washington, DC : Apply for the Meridian-Cox Foreign Service Fellowship for Emerging Leaders
The Meridian-Cox Foreign Service Fellowship for Emerging Leaders is a fully-funded program designed to raise awareness about Foreign Service careers among students across the United States. This initiative, a collaboration between the Meridian International Center, the Una Chapman Cox Foundation, and Community Colleges for International Development, offers undergraduate students an in-depth look into American diplomacy, highlighting educational, internship, and career paths within the U.S. Foreign Service. The program aims to spotlight the vital work of Foreign Service Officers while providing valuable training in soft skills critical for a successful diplomatic career. Fellows will deepen their understanding of diplomacy and international relations through hands-on activities, including site visits, workshops, and networking opportunities that enhance their professional development.
This fellowship draws from the Cox Foundation’s efforts to strengthen the U.S. Foreign Service, advances CCID’s mission to build global career pathways for community college students, and leverages Meridian’s global experience in leadership and diplomatic training for emerging leaders.
The 2025 Meridian-Cox Foreign Service Fellowship for Emerging Leaders will be held in Washington, DC, from Sunday, June 22 to Saturday, June 28, 2025. It will feature an engaging three-day diplomatic skills training course, a diplomacy simulation, panel discussions with diplomatic community representatives, and site visits. Fellows will also enjoy a tour of Washington's monuments and cultural activities. Additionally, there will be a virtual workshop before and after the Washington program.
The fellowship is generously supported by the Una Chapman Cox Foundation.

Costs: The program is fully funded. Fellows receive a $500 stipend, per diem for meals and incidentals, and coverage for roundtrip airfare, lodging, and transportation in Washington, DC.
Eligibility: U.S. citizens enrolled in an accredited college or university (including both 2- and 4-year institutions) who are on track to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree by May 2026 or May 2027 (current sophomores and juniors).
Requirements: Full participation in all aspects of the program, including pre-meetings, the one-week fellowship, and completion of assignments and surveys.
