Applications are open for the third cohort of the YORJA Peace Acorns Programme, a virtual capacity-building initiative designed to equip young Africans with practical knowledge and leadership skills in peacebuilding, transitional justice, human rights, and post-conflict recovery.
The programme provides participants with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of conflict transformation while connecting with a network of emerging peace leaders from across Africa.
About the Programme
The YORJA Peace Acorns Programme is a youth-focused learning and mentorship initiative that supports the next generation of peace practitioners. Built around the principles of the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP), the programme encourages meaningful youth participation in peacebuilding processes and promotes locally driven solutions to conflict and reconciliation.
Delivered entirely online, the programme combines structured learning with collaborative activities and mentorship, enabling participants to engage with contemporary peace and justice challenges affecting the African continent.
Programme Structure
Participants will take part in a four-month virtual programme that includes:
- Intensive training on peacebuilding and transitional justice concepts
- Group assignments based on current conflict situations in Africa
- Peer-to-peer mentorship and practical learning opportunities
- Dialogue and storytelling sessions
- Community-focused advocacy and leadership development
- Networking with young peacebuilders from across the continent
