Apply for the Youth Sustainable Project Competition 2024
In 2024, young people from Timor-Leste, a prospective ASEAN member, will also be eligible to apply. Young people from Timor-Leste and ASEAN member states will be asked to submit project nominations that fit the EU Global Gateway Strategy's strategic aims.
The organisation is asking young people from ASEAN countries to submit one-minute videos as project pitches for this competition. The European Union Delegation to ASEAN will give special prizes and free mentoring sessions by project specialists to ten of the outstanding video pitches.
Goals
to provide additional chances and a stage for young people in ASEAN to present their sustainable projects to a larger audience both within the region and beyond.
to determine which projects are most likely to benefit and have a more beneficial influence on their neighbourhood and community.
to motivate and enable young people in ASEAN to actively participate in the region's green transformation and community.
The Youth Sustainable Project (YSUP) Competition 2024 will center around two key themes:
1. Sustainable Connectivity: This includes Trade, Economic Connectivity, Sustainable Value Chains, Transport, Energy, Digitalization, and Higher Education/People-to-People Connectivity.
2. Green Transition: This encompasses Clean, Affordable, and Secure Energy, Circular Economy, Biodiversity, Sustainable Landscapes, Sustainable Food Systems, and the development of Green and Smart Cities.

Additional Information
For the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners:
- Each will receive a smart tablet.
- Certificates will be awarded by the EU Delegation to ASEAN.
- Winners will take part in a mentorship program with chosen experts.
- EU gift hampers will also be provided.
For the seven other shortlisted participants:
- Each will receive a universal smart wireless charger.
- Certificates will be awarded by the EU Delegation to ASEAN.
- Participation in a mentorship program with selected experts.
- EU gift hampers will be given.
- The project must be an ongoing development initiative in the Sustainable Connectivity or Green Transition sector, having been implemented for a minimum of three months.
- The project should benefit both the applicants and their surrounding communities.
- The application must adhere to the submission guidelines provided by the Organising Committee.
- Individuals aged 18 to 30 are eligible to participate, either as individuals or as representatives of a group (all group members must also be aged 18 to 30). Note: Only the group representative will participate in competition activities.
- Applicants must be citizens of one of the 10 ASEAN Member States (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam) or Timor-Leste.
