The Loss and Damage Youth Grantmaking Council (LDYGC), in collaboration with the Climate Justice Resilience Fund (CJRF) and Open Society Foundations, is inviting applications for its new $275,000 grant cycle, dedicated to concrete actions addressing the impact of climate change in vulnerable communities. The focus is on tangible measures, excluding applications primarily centered on capacity building and awareness campaigns, unless integral to the project's success.
Grant Categories:
- Large Grants (50,000 USD): Allocated for long-term initiatives with broad reach and significant measurable outcomes, taking a year or more for implementation.
- Medium-Sized Grants (25,000 USD): Intended for long-term initiatives with specific targets and flexible implementation.
Grant Focus Themes:
1. Recovery and Rehabilitation after Extreme Weather Events: Projects addressing loss and damage following events like hurricanes, cyclones, floods, droughts, heatwaves, etc., such as restoring houses, rebuilding resilient infrastructures, and establishing early warning systems.
2. Relocation and Resettlement of Communities Affected by Slow-Onset Events: Solutions for communities impacted by rising sea levels, including alternative livelihoods, support for climate migration, and innovative approaches in affected regions.
3. Addressing Non-Economic Loss and Damage Effects: Projects tackling overlooked impacts, such as loss of cultural heritage, community knowledge, natural heritage, and mental/physical health impacts, like preserving cultural practices, establishing mental health support centers, and strengthening local healthcare systems.
4. Addressing Economic Loss and Damage Effects: Initiatives focusing on enhancing the economic well-being of affected communities, such as offering climate risk insurance mechanisms or creating contingency funds for vulnerable coastal communities.

Additional Information
1. The lead applicant must be 35 years old or younger and must be affiliated with or lead a youth organization or grassroots organization operating locally or nationally, particularly in the most affected areas, vulnerable communities, marginalized groups, or other unspecified locations.
2. Applications should align with the "action to address L&D" themes outlined above and must be submitted before the deadline through the provided Google Form.
3. Project proposals can be submitted in English, French, or Spanish. Applicants submitting in French or Spanish are encouraged to attach an English translation of their project proposal if possible.
4. The project proposal should not exceed three pages and must be complete. Incomplete proposals will not be considered.
5. The submitted project must align with the grant's scope, focusing on funding tangible actions to address loss and damage, excluding proposals centered on capacity building and awareness campaigns.
