Applications are open for Young professionals, students, faith leaders, climate advocates, and members of Christian communities worldwide to apply for the 2026 Christian Climate Observers Program (CCOP), an immersive training initiative that provides participants with the opportunity to engage directly in international climate negotiations during COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye.
The programme is designed to equip participants with practical knowledge of climate diplomacy, advocacy, policy processes, and global environmental governance while exploring these issues through a faith-informed lens.
About the Programme
The Christian Climate Observers Program prepares participants to attend United Nations climate conferences as accredited observers through recognized non-governmental organizations with observer status under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Through a combination of preparatory training sessions, on-site participation, mentoring, and daily reflection meetings, participants gain first-hand exposure to the global climate negotiation process and the role civil society plays in shaping climate action.
The 2026 cohort will participate in COP31, which is scheduled to take place in Antalya, Türkiye, from 9–20 November 2026.
What Participants Can Expect
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to:
- Attend COP31 as an accredited climate observer
- Participate in UNFCCC side events and policy discussions
- Learn how international climate negotiations operate
- Develop advocacy and climate communication skills
- Engage with experienced climate observers and mentors
- Join daily briefing and reflection sessions throughout the conference
- Build connections with policymakers, researchers, NGOs, faith leaders, and environmental advocates from around the world

Training and Participation
Selected participants will be expected to:
- Complete online preparatory training before COP31
- Attend webinars and orientation sessions
- Participate in one of the designated conference weeks
- Engage actively in daily programme activities during COP31
- Contribute to post-conference reflection and reporting activities
Participation is highly competitive due to the limited number of observer badges available.
