CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: Apply for the Generation Kijani (Gen_K) Youth Climate Leadership and Mentorship Programme 2026/2027
Applications are now open for the Generation Kijani (Gen_K) Youth Climate Leadership and Mentorship Programme 2026/2027, a nine-month initiative designed to strengthen youth-led organisations working to advance climate adaptation and resilience in Tanzania. The programme is introduced by Climate Hub Tanzania in partnership with Climate KIC, with funding from the Government of Ireland through its International Development Programme.
Generation Kijani aims to equip youth-led climate organisations with the knowledge, resources and mentorship they need to strengthen their operations, develop effective leadership, and transform climate project ideas into practical community-based solutions. The initiative will support organisations working to address climate challenges while building the resilience of vulnerable communities.
Selected organisations will receive €5,000 in project funding to implement a climate initiative within their communities. Participants will also benefit from training in leadership, project management, fundraising, strategic planning and organisational development. The programme will provide access to experienced mentors and peers from previous cohorts, offering guidance and opportunities to learn from organisations facing similar challenges.
Participating organisations will also have the opportunity to apply to showcase their work at the Climate Innovation Expo and organise a Climathon in their respective areas, helping to promote local climate solutions and encourage wider community participation.
To be eligible, applicants must be not-for-profit organisations legally registered in Tanzania and actively working with young people or communities at risk. Their work should focus on climate education, youth and community engagement, climate adaptation or resilience. Applicants must also demonstrate a commitment to inclusive climate action, particularly involving women, persons with disabilities and rural communities that are disproportionately affected by climate challenges.
A total of five organisations from different regions of Tanzania will be selected to participate in the programme. The nine-month initiative will run from November 2026 to July 2027, providing selected organisations with financial support, practical skills and mentorship to strengthen their impact.
Interested and eligible organisations are encouraged to submit their applications before the 29 October 2026 deadline.
