Applications are now being accepted for the Agribusiness Challenge Fund, which will provide direct financial assistance to remove obstacles to resource flow that SMEs must overcome in order to grow and, ultimately, provide and maintain job opportunities for young men and women.
The Fund aims to stimulate enterprise growth and support the creation, scale-up, and sustainability of dignified and fulfilling job opportunities for young women and men. By launching various sector-specific challenges, the Fund seeks to engage entities with innovative and scalable business models that have significant job creation potential and can deliver lasting impact.

- Primary production
- Processing and aggregation
- Trading and market linkages
Categories of Interest in the Agriculture Value Chain:
The Fund encourages applications from agribusinesses capable of creating work opportunities for young women and men, including those involved in:
- Forestry
- Fishing
- Horticulture
- Plant breeding
- Agro input supplies
- Cash crops such as cocoa, cotton, coffee, and tea
- Fruits and vegetables
- Livestock: dairy, beef, goats, pigs, poultry
- Solar-powered agricultural tools
- Early warning systems
- Climate-resilient crop varieties
- Food storage and preservation
- Farmer training on adaptation techniques
- Crop insurance services
- Smart irrigation systems and drip irrigation
- Soil moisture sensors
- Organic fertilizers
- Bioenergy production and alternative fuels
- Capacity building for farmers and agribusinesses.

Additional Information
- Operating in the agriculture sector.
- Being an established for-profit Small or Medium-sized Enterprise (SME).
- Conducting business in at least one of the 20 designated focus countries in Africa.
- Providing a matching contribution of at least 30% of the total project cost.
- Having innovative, practical, and scalable business models that aim to create job opportunities for young women, men, youth with disabilities, or refugee youth.
- Complying with national and international laws on fundamental human rights, labor standards, environmental management, and seed regulations.
- Avoiding any involvement in or support for terrorist activities.
