Applications are now open for the Consilium Paid Traineeship Programme 2027, offering graduates an opportunity to gain practical experience at the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium.
The five-month programme provides participants with first-hand exposure to the European Union's decision-making processes while allowing them to contribute to the daily work of one of the EU's key institutions.
Each year, around 110 traineeship positions are available across a range of professional fields, giving young graduates the chance to develop their skills in an international and multicultural working environment.
Traineeship Areas
Successful applicants may be placed in departments including:
- EU Policy
- Law
- Public Administration
- Communications
- Translation
- Information Technology (IT)
During the traineeship, participants will work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to ongoing projects, and gain valuable insight into European policymaking and institutional operations.
Traineeship Duration
The current application round is for traineeships running from:
- 1 February to 30 June 2027
Graduates interested in European affairs, public policy, law, communications, administration, translation, or information technology are encouraged to apply for this opportunity to gain professional experience at the heart of the European Union.

- Not have previously completed a traineeship or held employment at another EU institution.
