COP29: Generation Climate Europe is accepting applications for a Project Officer to lead their COP29 preparation
Generation Climate Europe (GCE) is the largest European coalition of youth-led networks focused on climate and environmental issues. With 381 national organizations across 46 countries, GCE represents the voices of over 20 million young Europeans. They envision a system that respects human rights, the planet, and acknowledges the shared responsibility for a carbon-neutral and sustainable world.
GCE is preparing for the upcoming COP29 in November 2024 and seeks Project Officers to join their Events team. As a volunteer PO, tasks include:
- Engaging with the COP29 team through regular meetings
- Supporting the development of deliverables and key activities
- Collaborating with other POs on specific focus areas
- Contributing to the COP29 report in January 2025
- Planning and organizing virtual events
- Developing ideas and applications for side-events
- Working with external organizations to co-host events
Ideal candidates are passionate about youth climate action, highly motivated, and familiar with UNFCCC processes. They should have basic knowledge of EU policy-making, be proficient in Google Suite and video platforms, and have good spoken and written English skills. Previous COP or SB attendance, international relations experience, and a European background are desirable but not required. They should be available to work remotely for 3-4 hours a week and be based in a timezone close to CET/CEST.
