The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) is providing eligible Nigerians with an opportunity to access laptops and other essential digital devices through its C.L.I.C.K.D. initiative. The programme is designed for people who need digital equipment for education, employment, freelancing, business development and other activities but may not be able to afford the full cost of a device upfront.

C.L.I.C.K.D., which stands for Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity & Knowledge Devices, is a CREDICORP initiative aimed at reducing the digital access gap in Nigeria. Rather than providing devices completely free of charge, the programme enables eligible applicants to obtain devices through affordable consumer credit arrangements offered in collaboration with participating financial institutions and approved ecosystem partners. Repayments are spread over time, allowing beneficiaries to acquire the equipment they need without making the entire payment at once. 

The initiative covers a range of digital equipment, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, connectivity devices and digital learning equipment. The programme is particularly relevant for Nigerians who require reliable technology to participate in the digital economy, including students taking online courses, freelancers, remote workers, software developers, content creators, entrepreneurs and job seekers. 

Through the scheme, participants can use the financed devices to pursue online courses and professional certifications, apply for remote employment, undertake freelance work, develop digital skills, manage businesses and access other opportunities that depend on reliable technology. CREDICORP also states that successful repayment can contribute towards building a stronger credit history, potentially helping beneficiaries establish a better credit profile over time. 

The programme’s first national pilot is being implemented in partnership with 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT), an initiative under Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy. Eligible participants connected to the digital talent ecosystem can access laptops and other work-ready devices on credit, with the broader objective of helping people turn digital skills into employment, income and economic opportunities. 

The application form indicates that the opportunity is open to different categories of applicants, including employed salary earners, freelancers or self-employed individuals, business owners, students, job seekers and NYSC members. Applicants are asked to provide information such as their state and local government of residence, occupation and, optionally, monthly income. The application also asks whether applicants participate in digital talent programmes such as 3MTT, Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa and Genesys Tech Hub. 

Applicants can indicate whether they are seeking a laptop, smartphone, tablet or another device, as well as explain how they intend to use the equipment. Listed purposes include learning and certifications, remote work, freelancing, business growth, school, software development and content creation. 

It is important to understand that C.L.I.C.K.D. is credit financing rather than a free-device programme. Applicants who are approved will be subject to the applicable financing and repayment arrangements of the participating financial partner. CREDICORP says the programme works through verified lenders, vendors and ecosystem partners, with repayment structures designed around applicants’ income circumstances. 

Interested Nigerians can submit an expression of interest through the official CREDICORP application portal. Applicants should provide accurate personal information and consent to CREDICORP and its partners using the submitted information to assess eligibility. Applying does not necessarily mean automatic approval, as eligibility and financing arrangements are subject to the applicable assessment process. 

Eligibility: Nigerians who require a digital device for learning, work, freelancing, business, school, software development, content creation or other productive purposes.
