Applications are open for the 2026 edition of the Restoration Stewards program, a unique opportunity for young people passionate about creating a world where both communities and nature flourish. If you’re between the ages of 18 and 35 and actively involved in restoring ecosystems, this initiative offers the support you need to take your impact to the next level.

This year-long program, initiated by the Global Landscapes Forum together with the Youth in Landscapes Initiative, is designed to empower young changemakers through a combination of funding, tailored mentorship, capacity building, and international visibility. It’s rooted in principles of care, inclusion, cultural diversity, youth leadership, and equity across generations. The program supports youth-led teams working to regenerate forests, wetlands, drylands, mountains, oceans, peatlands, or rangelands, offering resources and guidance to scale their projects.

Each selected participant will receive a EUR 5,000 grant to advance their restoration work. They will also engage in one-on-one mentorship, receive training to deepen their understanding of integrated landscape approaches, organize community-focused events, and produce creative storytelling content to highlight their progress and inspire others. Regular check-ins with mentors and the organizing team will help participants refine their strategy and grow their leadership.

The program is particularly seeking applicants from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, especially those who are Indigenous, local leaders, or part of rural communities. Projects should already be underway and must have been running for at least six months. You don’t need to start something entirely new—ongoing efforts are welcome. Having someone on the team who can communicate effectively in English is an added advantage due to the language used in many program activities.
