FULLY FUNDED: African Human Rights activists and defenders are invited to apply for this training on how to engage with African Commission leaders!

The African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies, along with the International Service for Human Rights, is arranging a training program aimed at equipping human rights defenders with the knowledge and skills to effectively integrate the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights (ACHPR) into their existing work at the national level. This strategic training opportunity will help participants prepare for and engage in lobbying and advocacy activities at the ACHPR to drive positive change at the national level.

If you're a civil society actor, representing an African civil society organization or an international organization from East, North, Central, or North Africa, this training is tailored for you.

Objectives:
The course has three primary objectives:
A) Strengthen human rights defenders' advocacy skills and engagement with the ACHPR and other international human rights mechanisms.
B) Influence positive outcomes in regional human rights mechanisms, including ACHPR resolutions and the work of human rights experts.
C) Foster a community of human rights defenders to share best practices, lessons, and experiences in regional/international advocacy.

Date & Venue:
The training is scheduled for October 13th-15th, 2023, with the venue to be confirmed.

Expected Outcomes:
After completing the course, participants will have:
- Enhanced knowledge of regional and international human rights instruments and processes.
- Improved understanding of ACHPR's mechanisms and strategic engagement.
- Strengthened practical skills in advocacy and lobbying strategies.
- Collaborative insights into human rights trends in Africa.
- Networking opportunities with fellow defenders from across the continent.

Languages:
The training will be conducted in English and French, with interpretation services available.

Participants:
The training is open to Civil Society Actors, Representatives from African Civil Society Organizations, and International NGOs from Africa.

Selection Process:
Only selected applicants will be contacted. Organizers will cover participation costs, flights, accommodation, and conference packages for the 3-day event. All applications must be submitted online. Deadline: September 8, 2023.
