FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the Acumen East Africa Fellows Program 2025 for young East African changemakers

Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 Acumen Fellows Program in East Africa. This transformative initiative seeks remarkable individuals with entrepreneurial mindsets dedicated to tackling poverty-related challenges. The program equips participants with tools, insights, and a network to amplify their impact, enhance their leadership capabilities, and drive meaningful change within their communities across East Africa.

Through a carefully designed curriculum and the support of a collaborative cohort, participants are challenged to redefine their understanding of leadership. They cultivate self-awareness, refine their abilities to lead teams effectively, and become skilled in authentic storytelling. The program further empowers fellows to navigate complex value conflicts, foster motivation within themselves and others, and challenge conventional systems to create transformative change in their organizations and beyond.

The program unfolds over six months in a hybrid format, allowing participants to maintain their professional roles while engaging in a blend of virtual workshops, in-person gatherings, and self-guided learning modules. Key elements include a three-day virtual orientation, two immersive five-day in-person sessions (with associated assignments), and three focused learning labs lasting four hours each, complemented by additional tasks.

To qualify, applicants must demonstrate a significant commitment to addressing poverty, with a minimum of five years of professional experience. Most fellows typically have between 10 and 15 years of work experience, with at least a decade dedicated to poverty-related issues. Participants must also have access to reliable internet and commit to full program participation. The program actively encourages women and those working with or identifying as forcibly displaced persons (FDP) to apply. Eligible applicants must reside in East Africa, specifically in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi, South Sudan, or Somalia.

Successful candidates benefit from comprehensive support, with all expenses related to the program covered by Acumen. This includes accommodation, meals, and reimbursements for travel to in-person sessions, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all fellows.
