FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the Africa CDC Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Fellowship program 2025

Applications are now open for the 2025 Africa CDC-Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Fellowship Program, a prestigious initiative by the African Union Commission in collaboration with the Kofi Annan Foundation. This program was launched on May 25, 2020, and is designed to develop visionary leaders who will shape and advance Africa’s public health systems in alignment with a new public health order.

Benefits of the Fellowship

The fellowship offers an intensive year-long professional development experience aimed at enhancing leadership skills in public health. Participants will gain expertise in critical areas such as health diplomacy, policy influence, and change management, equipping them to lead impactful health initiatives across the continent. Fellows will receive mentorship from seasoned experts both within and outside Africa, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching learning experience. Additionally, the program covers all related costs, including travel, daily allowances, and insurance for residential placements. Necessary online learning materials and software will also be provided to participants.

Eligibility Criteria

This program seeks exceptional leaders from African Union member states who are committed to advancing public health. To qualify, applicants must:

•Hold citizenship in an African Union member state.

•Possess a postgraduate degree in a relevant public health field.

•Have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience post-master’s degree in areas such as human medicine, health policy, sexual and reproductive health, One Health, animal health, environmental health, or finance.

•Be employed full-time in the public or private health sector in Africa.

•Demonstrate a strong track record of leadership or potential to influence public health outcomes positively across the continent.

Target Audience

The program welcomes applications from senior public health professionals who aspire to lead transformative health initiatives in Africa. This includes experts in sexual and reproductive health and public mental health, as well as government ministry officials and staff of National Public Health Institutes (NPHIs). Women in senior positions are especially encouraged to apply, reflecting the program’s commitment to diversity.

This fellowship is a unique opportunity to join a cohort of innovative leaders dedicated to propelling Africa toward achieving the goals outlined in Agenda 2063.
